Privacy Policy

We will ensure the privacy of information is upheld and confidentiality is maintained throughout all aspects of the Centre.

The Privacy Code is communicated to all staff and the Board so they can be aware of their responsibilities.

The Centre will collect personal information only for the legal purposes it has stated to carry out.

The sources of information collected are gained from the person concerned. Exceptions are when the information may be publicly available and the person concerned may allow the information to be collected from someone else; or the information may be used in a form in which the person is not identified.

The Centre will make each person aware that information about that person is in fact being collected. They will be told why it is being collected, who is going to get it, and how that person can see it at a later date upon request.

The Centre will not act unlawfully or unfairly in collecting information nor will it intrude unreasonably into a person's personal affairs without their permission.

Safeguards will be taken to protect any personal information held by the Centre against loss or misuse. These include limiting access to certain information and procedures that stop the disclosure of information.

Anyone who has provided personal information will be allowed to see it. The information will be therefore kept in such a way that this is possible. The Centre may refuse access to information for reasons set out in the Privacy Act.

Likewise, having seen the information, a person is entitled to ask that it be corrected. The Centre may decline to do so, but if this is the case, then a statement of the correction sought but not made will be attached to the information.

The Centre will not use personal information unless it is accurate, up to date, complete, relevant and not misleading.

Personal information will be kept only for so long as it is required for the purpose for which it may be lawfully used and archived.

The Centre will not use any information for any other purpose other than that stated unless the individual concerned says it can be. Exceptions will be applied according to the Privacy Act.

Personal information gained by the Centre will not be given to anyone other than the person to whom it relates, unless it is for a purpose for which it was obtained in the first instance, or the person concerned allows it.

Information concerning students will not be divulged without the student’s written consent. Requests for information will only be complied with upon written consent being provided or in person.
